On Saturday June 18th the Sacajawea Center will be hosting its second annual Father’s Day Shoot. Join us at the Outdoor School where you can try your hand at shooting a bow and arrow, throwing a hatchet, or throwing an atlatl (a Native American spear) and challenge your dad to a shoot-off. The program runs from 10am-4pm and you can stop by at any point and stay for as long as you like. There will also be a historic firearms display to enjoy and swivel cannon demonstrations. This event is fun for the whole family! Cost is $6 per person or $10 per family. If you would like to preregister please call 756-1188.
If you want to make a weekend of it, you can also stop by on Friday for a Flintknapping class, anytime from 10am-4pm. In this class you will learn how to make an arrow or spear point from obsidian (one of the stones used to form tools) using traditional and contemporary tools, and you’ll walk away with your very own point!
